Show Transcript

Here are all the strange articles that you might have missed in the news this week. We'll be covering the Department of Energy's response to their investigations on UFOs, NASA wanting to launch an artificial star in space, and of course, the latest AI updates and so much more. We're not going to dilly-dally. (00:34) Let's get right into it. Starting off with the DOE, also known as the Department of Energy. So they had a conference, shockingly, several weeks ago, and we're just now hearing about this. I'm disappointed. I know you're disappointed. But there was some very interesting nuggets in this. Why? Because we know that when Ana Paulina Luna is in the game, she has her UFO questions. (01:00) Now, Tim Burchette was also there. He didn't ask anything, but he was in the background. And of course, the topic of UFOs came up because when we're dealing with the DOE, Department of Energy, we're also dealing with nuclear facilities or nuke sites, right? And as for people that have been following this topic of the UFO phenomenon, We are aware that there are significant UFO sightings in and around nuke facilities across the world. (01:33) The more famous ones have to do with the Malmstrom Air Force Base, the Vandenberg Base as well in the United States. But they've also taken place in Russia and Ukraine. And we do have those documents on that. So getting into this, the person that was on the stand, I'll pull up an image. is this lady right here by the name of jennifer granholm and she is the secretary of the doe and during this hearing a lot of things were covered but of course today you and I were only focusing on the ufo uap aspect here and of (02:11) course anna had to ask can you claire this is quote Can you clarify whether the DOE has been involved in any such efforts or either historically or currently to analyze reverse engineering material from related to UAP? This is a pretty interesting question and, you know, the way I'm reading it, it might sound kind of out of the blue here. (02:36) But in reality, there were some things to preface this. And do not worry, if you want to watch it, I will place that link in the description box below, the YouTube link, along with all of the articles that I'll be covering with you here today. And so, of course, we got the stickler answer from Miss Jennifer. (02:56) And she said, I have no knowledge of that. But it gets more interesting. Number one, of course, we're going to get those... Rather annoying answers, but the more pointed your question is, usually the more specific answers you can receive. So then Luna does a follow-up and asks, there are several reports indicating frequent drone incursions over the DOE nuclear facilities, including an incident on April 1st, 2021 at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. (03:31) And so Jennifer acknowledged the department's efforts in this area, saying, quote, we have a whole counter drone effort to make sure that all of our national security sites and our labs are protected from incursions from drones that are not authorized. But you see, these people here that were asking the questions, they were packing. (03:56) They said, OK, but then what about some drones? sightings that took place in the 40s and 50s we didn't have drones back then but we have had strange UFO sightings near nuclear facilities can you give an answer to that Miss Jennifer and all she could say to that this woman right here was like I'd be happy to follow up with you on that Man, killing it with the questions. (04:26) Now, is she going to – is Jennifer obviously going to say, oh, yeah, aliens, yeah, we've been looking into it? No, of course not. Not anytime soon. But what I'm loving here is that these congressmen and these representatives are – coming prepared with their questions and also having follow-ups. Because when you're dealing with these kinds of departments, you already have an idea of the answers they're going to provide, like it's not in my purview kind of deal, or let me circle back to you on that, (04:58) you know, those kinds of things. And I can imagine that these reps are just... dying with those answers. They're so done with them. The same way that I am and that you are when we come across these answers either in our day-to-day life or when we're following up on what these departments have to say like the DOD or the DOE or any other acronym you want to throw out there. (05:26) All of them are valid here and we get these same answers. I like the fact that people here are coming in prepared. And also Representative Mark Green also touched on the topic during this two and a half hour hearing. asking about protocols for reporting UAP sightings near nuclear infrastructures. And Jennifer responded, quote, Certainly there are protocols whenever we see anything unusual around our nuke sites or our national security sites at large. (06:02) However, she did not go into detail on those protocols, but she did mention that she would be delighted to do it behind closed doors. You see this face? It's a face of disappointment. It is a pancake face of disappointment. But I can't expect a different answer, to be honest with you. But let me ask you this. (06:26) Let's say you were sitting on that panel and you were asking the tough questions. What question would you ask in hopes of receiving a response? Because obviously people are going to say, well, I want to ask if aliens are real. Are they doing UFO stuff? You already know her answer is going to be, I'm not aware of that. (06:45) You know, it's not in my purview. So you got to ask a really smart question, a very specific question to where she can't dip and dodge so much. Right. So I'm putting the mic over to you. If you could ask one question that you think you could probably get a good answer out of this person, what would you ask? I would love to read them out loud as well. (07:11) And don't worry, we will circle back to that. See what I did there? And so think about it, place them in there, and we'll read them a little bit later. because this is a very important topic, so much so that the Paradigm Institute is really pushing for a UFO disclosure from presidential candidates. And they're mentioning, and this is coming off of memory, but I did read a few articles on this, is that they were mentioning that during the next presidential candidate questions with Biden, Trump, and Kennedy, (07:50) The Paradigm Institute really wants CNN, which is the one that's going to be hosting those questions, to ask questions referring to UFOs, UFO disclosure, and transparency, and what they're going to do for the general public when it comes to these topics. I think that's very interesting. I'd like to see how that is going to move forward, and from my understanding in previous responses, to like presidential candidate stuff they have asked questions about ufos and I apologize kennedy will not be there it's just (08:23) going to be trump and biden that are going to be a part of it now we know so we're going to see some pretty interesting stuff we are aware that rather recently trump did an interview with um logan paul about UFOs, what one section was about UFOs, and how he was given stories to him from pilots, which is interesting. (08:43) And we're also aware, this is public information, that when Trump Jr. asked his father about UFOs and about Roswell, all President Trump could say was, it's very interesting, something along those lines. So I'd like to see how it's going to move forward with this conversation, and hopefully CNN will ask some very pointed, difficult, and intriguing answers. (09:09) Now, I do have some questions already in the live chat, and I'd love to read them out loud. And Drucker, I wish they could answer this question. Why are you hiding UFO stuff? They're going to play dumb and say, I don't know what you're talking about. Look, I get you, Paul, as well. But we got to ask these like more difficult questions to where we can put them in a corner and they have to answer it. (09:36) You know what I mean? Lex says, the question is, do you have detailed images of these drone incursions? Okay, Lex, that's a good one. And the follow-up question would be, well, did you come prepared? Can we see those photos today, right? Because getting them in the mail, bro, it would take months. The government's still using snail mail. (10:01) Dude, they're using a donkey, not even worse. It's awful. It really is. And I know I have a few more, but please place them in there as we continue onward. Because this was one I'm pretty excited and I found really bizarre. And this image is pixelated, but I feel like it's accurate when it comes to space. (10:21) Talking about NASA. So last week... We spoke about their telescope. Just kidding. It's the HWO telescope called the Habitable Worlds Observatory. And say that three times fast, man. It is hard. But NASA has come up yet again in the news. And this one really blew my socks off. Because it says here that NASA is indeed planning to launch an artificial star. (10:48) You heard me right. By the year 2029. And this is according to ABC News. So NASA is developing a breadbox size satellite that will act as an artificial star in the night sky. And the satellite is designed to be launched into an orbit that matches Earth's spin, allowing it to remain, quote, fixed in the night sky above the United States for the next year. (11:18) For the first year, so the next year, so it'll be the year 2030, right? And the primary purpose of this artificial star is to help calibrate telescopes and improve the accuracy of astronomical measurements. But across across platforms, it doesn't even matter where you're reading this article from. (11:41) The headline is just so insane. It's so whack. And it says NASA is going to launch an artificial star. How do you how do you do that? How do you have the capacity to capture all of that energy like our star? Right. And then to launch it. And then you actually read the article and you say, wow. Oh, that makes a little bit more sense. (12:04) So what to take away from this is conversation that you and I are having is don't just read the headline, like actually read the article, because the headline will, will lead you astray. And just because you read the headline doesn't mean you actually know what's going on. Been there, done that, made that mistake more than once. (12:24) And this is why you watch these shows. So I keep you up to date on the strangest news of the week so that you don't have to read it unless you want to. Those links will be in the description box below. There's a little bit more to this because what we're also looking at here is that once it's in position, this artificial star, the satellite will emit lasers toward ground-based telescopes simulating various cosmic phenomena such as supernovas, stars, and other celestial events from across the universe. (13:01) Can I just say that some people at NASA are incredibly imaginative? Like, I think this is such a cool idea. I think there's probably a little bit more to this than what they're telling us in these articles. Is it just more than to help calibrate telescopes? Probably. Probably. But on the surface, you know what? It's kind of cool. (13:23) So it'd be nice to see the Habitable Worlds Observatory. Working alongside this artificial satellite, now just imagine artificial star satellite. Now imagine that telescope looking straight at that artificial star. That'd be some pretty cool stuff. Or it'd be like the mirror effect of just like infinite mirrors, right? That'd also be kind of cool. (13:50) Jazz says, it shoots laser, eh? It sure does. So there might be a little bit more to this than what we think we know about it. Ooh, the Death Star. Nice. I mean, not super nice for us in the future, but nice as a movie reference. And Brett, thank you so much for that. Thank you for supporting the channel. I do appreciate it. (14:16) Oh, Trucker says, will it shoot down missiles or UFOs? Oh, dun, dun, dun. We won't know until it happens. But even if it were to happen, would that information be made public? Would we actually know it's going to happen? Not unless you have a telescope. So this is your time. This is your sign to invest in a telescope right here, right now. (14:39) You can buy it at so many different stores and they're awesome. They're so cool. Cindy says, can it spot ghosts? That would be really cool. I want to have like glasses or goggles or whatever that can spot ghosts. I am waiting for that kind of technology. Getting into our next one here, talking about plants. (15:03) Okay, plants have a very special place in my heart. Even though I do not have a green thumb, they're just oddly tan right now. And I cannot keep any plants alive. Unlike my father who was like the God of plant growing. What's really interesting, and what we've kind of already known about, but it's becoming more prevalent in the scientific community, is that plants can communicate with one another. (15:29) The study of mushrooms communicating with each other has been going on for about the last decade or so, but that information has become the most prevalent in the last year, where they have been able to measure their, and I think, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but to measure their electrodes to see them communicate and to let them know of danger when one mushroom is being plucked right next to another, creating screaming sounds that our ears can't hear, but that certain technology can, that is tuned into the frequency. (16:05) Well, there's more because it's not just mushrooms. All right. It's practically all plants. And this professor at the University of Cornell also discovered that plants can detect changes in light ratios reflecting off neighboring plant leaves. And you know what's crazy here? In fact, he says this professor by the name of Kessler says that they can problem solve. (16:36) What? What? And they say it's okay to eat plants? Dude, at this point, I'm just going to live off of air. And then even then you're breathing in like microbes and I don't know, tardigrades at some point. Like we can never be happy because you can't even live normally. Forget the plants, forget the animals, forget everything else. (17:00) Just breathe and just hope for the best. Now there have been some stories and there have been a handful of people that are able to live just off of like meditation and not eating. OK, I'm I'm ready for that spiritual journey, especially knowing that plants can flip in problem solve, according to this professor. (17:25) Genius, smarter than some people. Now, Diane, thank you for that. It says the star, in quotation marks, is also part of a new celestial navigation system to replace GPS in times of war when they are jammed slash destroyed. See, my man right here reads. I appreciate you because that is absolutely and actually correct. (17:47) Yes. So that's another little tidbit when it comes to that artificial star that NASA is going to be launching. Now, looking back at this, and you can read more about it, but I'm just going to touch on this, is that plants were found to, quote, smell the chemical signals indicating pest, like pest presence, and use this information to protect and prepare for future threats. (18:18) Okay, let me tell you this. I've just hit an age in my life where I actually now enjoy watching those BBC nature documentaries. Five years ago, I would have said, Christina, you are the most boring old person on the planet. How could you like that kind of stuff? It's amazing. It's like the... Forget social media. (18:43) Forget scrolling through the newest trends. Watching nature... either in real life or in documentaries, man, it makes my day and it hits me with all of these endorphins. Now that I know that plants can bloody problem solve and smell pest presence, I have an extra appreciation for these nature documentaries. And if you have one in mind that you really like, send it to me, DM, email me, put it in the live chat, because man, I'm gonna start binging that kind of stuff. (19:16) Because I have officially... Hit that age of where what I thought was boring is actually awesome. The next thing I want to be doing, it seems like, is birdwatching. I never thought I would be here in my life. Never. But, you know, things change. And Mark Tosaka. Thank you so much for that as well. Okay. Words. Asking a serious question. (19:39) Do fruits scream when you eat it? I don't know. I feel terrible if that's the case. I hope not. And this is why our ears aren't tuned to all the frequencies. Could you just imagine all the screaming that you hear all the time, not only from people, but from animals and plants and bugs and everything in between? Your brain would turn into absolute mush. (20:04) No coming back from that. Steve says, I always loved watching BBC Nature there, young lady, lol. You know, I'm glad because you have that level of just like calmness because people that enjoy watching nature from the beginning are so different from the city dwellers. There's a big difference in patience and speed and even walking speed as well. (20:33) That has actually been studied. That has. So it's super cool stuff. Bird is the word, says Oscar. Yes. Yes, it is. Plants strike back. Could you imagine? That'd be kind of freaky. Happy Friday, says Marty. Thank you for everyone that's catching this show live. I appreciate all of you. If you're enjoying the show, hit that like button right down below and subscribe if you haven't already, as I do several shows right here every single week. (20:58) And said that so fast. Okay. Our next one, for those that watch Strangest News of the Week religiously, you're going to know about this, but we have some updates. And it's talking about the meaty rice. Now, it's not meat and rice. It's literally meaty flavored rice. And it was created in South Korea. (21:23) And the overall purpose of this meaty rice is for food sustainability. And what's interesting here is that obviously, obviously it was created in a lab. And it has this odd pinky texture. But this pinky rice contains 8% more protein and 7% more fat than regular rice, which would make sense, right? Because it's meaty rice. (21:55) And even the meat is created in the lab in order to infuse this rice. So before we even continue onward, let me throw this at you. Hear me out. Would you rather I love these games. Would you rather eat bugs like crickets and grasshoppers and wormies for the rest of your life or eat meaty rice that was made in a lab? I mean, the bugs are going to be farmed, you know, like it's one or the other. (22:27) Which one are you going to go for? For me, it's that crunch factor of bugs. I'm a baby when it comes to that. It's not for me or the chewiness of earthworms. No, thank you. Unless they're gummy worms, then maybe. Matey rice? They're saying it tastes not terrible. But let's see. I want to hear it from you. (22:52) Excuse me. Nunu says pinky rice. Meat rice says ja. Cindy says meat rice. Yes. Okay. I'm seeing a lot of meat rice. John Aside being the outlier here saying bugs. Can bugs be fried? Baby, anything can be fried. So, yes. Now, will it be nutritious? It's a different story. But, yes. I got another one, some more rice. (23:21) So it seems like we have overall, it's more meaty rice than bugs, but we're getting a mix of the two. And it seems that at some point you're going to get the options at the grocery store. And so here, this rice takes about 11 days to curate. And what's interesting is that it is being tested by the FAA in South Korea to see if it obviously follows all of the protocols. (23:54) And what they found out is that this hybrid rice could be sold for around $2.23 per per kilo that's cheaper than buying rice all together for a kilo I i pay like nine dollars for like a pound and a half which is like we're looking about that's about the same of a kilo give or take I don't know my conversions are actually atrocious but someone will correct me and have their calculator out but paying 220 to 23 dollars two dollars and 23 cents Who isn't going to take that steal? That's a steal right there. (24:37) Which, when compared to beef for about $15 a kilo. Oh, Skyhawk, bring in the facts. One kilo is 2.2 pounds. Thank you. Someone had my back. Pretty crazy stuff. This next one, actually, these next two articles that I have for you are honorable mentions, meaning we're going to touch on them. We're not going to go into significant detail because this one this one like actually made my day. (25:11) If you've ever been in customer service or that kind of where you call. because you have a problem and they attempt to help you like IT. Either you're the person sitting at the desk having someone scream at you or you're the person screaming. Japan says, whoa, whoa, whoa. We're going to use AI for good. (25:35) We're not going to use it to take over the world. We're not going to use it like to create the Terminator. Instead, we are going to use it for these very stressful calls where when one person is screaming at the customer service the customer service person is hearing a very calm tone very chill instead of saying you an absolute it's hello thank you so much for helping me all because of a I and for those that work in it or a customer service that has to deal with all the really angry cell phones a lot of these (26:13) companies do have anchor management do you have ways to help with high levels of stress anxiety they have yoga they have meditation all these different classes and stuff just because that job is incredibly difficult when 24 7 you have people screaming at you we don't need that So this company called SoftBank is like, I am here to save lives. (26:37) I am here to use AI for good. And when someone's screaming, I'm going to make it into a calm voice. I need that in my cell phone so badly. And I know you do as well. So this SoftBank company. what they are stating is that it's not currently for public use. It is still in a way under wraps and still in the working process, but they did AI was trained to use over 10,000 voice recordings of common phrases, including screams and threats performed by actors. (27:13) While the implication timeline on when this will be released is unclear, I think there's some pretty positive stuff to this and I am ready to see it happen and be used in the real world. Oh, or even in law enforcement. Yeah, Skyhawk. Okay, that'd be interesting. Well, you know what? Maybe not so much because let's say you call 911 or 999 in the UK, right? and you're in this emergency, and you're freaking out about it, if you were to call the dispatch and you sound super calm, they're not going to be as (27:47) speedy with their deliverance of police or a fireman as you were to sound frantic, right? So I feel like right there, it's kind of this gray area. But in customer service parts, I think it's a pretty good deal. All right, I got my last one for you. Honorable mention, because I have a question for you for this. (28:13) Because out of the, what is it, 2,000 or 20,000 drive-thrus for McDonald's, only 100 used AI to take orders with drive-thrus in the United States. Did you have one in your location? And two ways to answer that. In the live chat and also hit that like button right down below if and only if you're enjoying the show as this is our last honorable mention. (28:43) for the day. Because I did not know this. I was not aware at all that McDonald's had placed 100 AI drive throughs for people to place their orders into McDonald's. I didn't know this. And apparently they had been working with IBM since 2021 to get the job done. And Fun little fact for you. The reason to why we're bringing this up is because McDonald's said, we're going to take down all 100. (29:20) All of these AI drive-throughs, we are pulling the plug because it did not work why well for starters not everyone has the same accent and some of them are thick thick accents also sometimes you might order something and it doesn't really sound right been there done that for a very long time I worked in the food industry and Some people have some very odd requests. (29:50) And sometimes you just have no idea what they're asking. You're like, sweetheart, I'm really sorry. But can you repeat that like four more times? So I can imagine AI having the same issues that people do as well. Now, hopefully they are giving these people discounts because McDonald's has just gone through the roof in their prices. (30:20) Jimmy Church and I were chatting about it like last week or so that a burger and fries and a drink is the equivalent of like going out to a regular decent restaurant. 20 bucks, 15 bucks, something like that, right? It's insane. It's unbelievable. And they're saying, oh, we're here to help the working class. (30:43) We're here to help you out. Not with those prices. I don't think so. Well, anyways, they're taking it out. They're taking the AI drive-thrus out of here. They're going to continue working on it, see how it goes. But based off of their results, they will not be doing that kind of stuff anytime soon. (31:06) Out of all the articles that we covered today, which one was your favorite?
