Hello and welcome to this episode of Mysteries with a History, where you'll be taken on a wild ride into the unknown, the strange, and the mysterious. Like you, I have questions, and like you, I want answers. And with each episode together, we will peel away the layers to look for the truth. Today, we will be covering UFO cases and facts that took place during the celebration of harvest that we can now equate to the month of October and Halloween. I'm pretty excited for this episode, so let me bring in my co-host, Jimmy Church of Faded Black Radio. Jimmy, happy Thursday. How are you? Happy Halloween, everybody. It's Halloween? What? I know. Isn't that crazy? It's Halloween. I've got to be centered. Okay. Yeah. Happy Halloween, everybody. And I thought you were going to wear a costume. See, this is how Christina dresses at home. This is how I wake up, actually. This is normal. This is normal. Um, and, and Halloween, everybody happy Halloween. Hello, everybody. Halloween is, is, I don't know how to rank it anymore because it was always Christmas and Thanksgiving for me, you know, over the years, Halloween is creeping up. It's like, it's, it's in my top three. My favorite holiday now is like the holiday that's happening at that time. So right now it's Halloween for me. I love Halloween. I love everything about it. And so there you go. So happy Halloween. You look great. Love your costume. And Puck is, what's up with Puck? He's a witch. Puck is a witch. No, he's a warlock. Is he... You're right. Okay, okay. Don't freak me out. No, you're right. He's a warlock. A wizard. A wizard. Today he's Gandalf. What a great show we've got lined up. And some very interesting things that we're going to go through tonight. And some of it... Or today. Some of it I have... touched on uh throughout the years and and I've had guests on that I've talked about a few we're going to go much deeper uh on the show today but very fascinating stuff uh not only throughout history but even into modern times and it makes you wonder christina um I'm going to ask you uh uh directly um do you think that october has an influence on events because of, you know, it's fall, the moon, Sam Hain, Halloween, you know what I mean? Does it influence things a little bit for you? That's a very valid question. There were some reports that I came across that stated that during Halloween, October thirty first, there is sometimes, depending on the year, more UFO sightings and other days in October. Just because people are a little bit more in tuned with the strange and the mysterious, looking up in the skies, looking in wells, you know, looking in alleyways, all these different things. And they're coming across you like these strange things. craft in the sky and of course you know ghosts as well and all these other strange things taking place in October but people just seem to be a little bit more in tune during this month so reports rise up during this time Yeah, for sure. For sure. And now let's, uh, let's get this rolling because we've got a lot, uh, to cover today. And I want to start, I'm going to start first, but, but, but you haven't heard. Can you, okay. Can you change what I was going to start with? And I'm going to go first anyway. Okay. Cotton candy. That's what I was going to start with. This is candy corn. I don't know why I said cotton candy, but this, okay. This is what I just learned today. Like literally five minutes before the show, I despise cotton, whatever this is called candy corn. It's so gross. I just learned today that it has a flavor and the flavor it's honey, vanilla marshmallow. Yes. Yes. It's delicious. It's delicious. Yes. I love candy corn now. Um, okay. So I wanted to start with this and I'm glad you did. When I was a kid, I didn't dig it. All right. And then, and then I, I, I tried it and, and it was, and especially the older versions of This sweet, milky honey, the way it dissolved. I ended up loving candy corn. But over the years, now there's different versions of it, right? There's like cheap version, you know, and it just does. But when you land on the real candy corn, the real stuff, it's delicious. I love real candy corn. Yes. Jelly Bean produces approximately thirty five million pounds of candy corn annually. And I can't think of another time buying it except for October and then maybe a little bit in November. Right. This whole annually thing, it should just be shrunk down to like two months, forty five, sixty days. You can't. Okay. What I think that you need to do is go out and find, I don't know if they call it gourmet now or what, but it go up a couple of notches, get off the cheap stuff, the imitation and, and get real candy corn, the real stuff. It is so good. It is so good. And I I'm telling you, I, I admit my wrongness in growing up because I, Okay. When you go out trick or treating and, and I've done this with my kids and I've also done this as an adult. Uh, but, uh, I mean, uh, as a child, there are certain things that I love and, you know, trading candy, we've all done it and we don't need to, to get into that. But for me, it was always Reese's peanut butter cups, those little bite-sized Snickers. Twizzlers, sweet tarts, right? Of, of any kind. Don't give me that look. Don't give me that look. Wednesday. That was the Wednesday. Yeah, that was the Wednesday look. And, uh, but there were certain things and, um, that I was always, and I pushed, I traded the candy corn. I traded, I wanted nothing to do with it. And now, no, it's not that kind of party. If it's the good stuff. Let us know in the comments what your favorite Halloween candy is. And Wes Decker, thank you so much for the ten dollar super chat that says happy Halloween, everyone. And I'm so glad you were able to catch this live on Halloween Day. Yeah, right on. Right on. Are there any other fun things you want to mention about Halloween before we get into our UFO cases that took place? Yes, I want to mention this really quick. Oh, by the way, Whoppers, love them, right? But only on Halloween. You don't go out and buy those. Yeah, yeah, love Whoppers. Once you have Maltesers, you can never have Whoppers again. Christina sent me a ginormous bag of that. You remember that? You remember when you sent me or a box, you sent me a box or, um, which are two boxes and I destroyed them in about twenty four hours. Yeah, that was, that was, and Milk Duds. That's how good they are. You would never buy Milk Duds any day of the year, but Halloween, man, that's a good. Popcorn at the movie theaters, Milk Duds and popcorn. Yeah, once in a while I do do that. Yeah, I do do that. Okay, so. You do do. I do do that. Many years ago. And, uh, you know, buy my first house and stuff and, and the first Halloween. And I was so excited about that. And what I noticed, uh, over the years was, yeah, you have the You know, the different masks, the common things and princess costumes and all of that. You have all that. But the amount of E.T. and UFO costumes was crazy. Yeah. It was, I loved it. I loved it. And that was, that was, I don't remember any of that growing up. I don't remember, uh, people were Spider-Man and, you know, you saw all of Frankenstein. Yes. Dracula, of course. Right. But, uh, the amount of ET costumes, it was so much fun to see. And a lot of it was very, very creative. So, uh, again, it's how UFOs and ET have rolled into pop culture, right? To the point where five, six, seven year old kids trick-or-treating want to dress up as ET. I love it. Yes. It's definitely becoming very, very trendy, and it's exciting to see that they're much more open-minded about these things. And I think for today's show, it's awesome if they can watch this to get ready for Halloween. And, Michael, thank you so much for the nine ninety-nine pounds. Pounds? Yeah. It says, Christine, you look great. Happy Halloween. Oh, thank you so much. What about me? What about my costume? Well, I mean, this is how you dress all the time. This is like your I ride a motorcycle look with some chains. I'm a Harley dude today. I'm a Harley dude. All right. Let's start with Bloody Mary. Okay. Before we get into the history of Bloody Mary, have you done it? Oh, yeah, but I was a scaredy cat as a child at sleepovers, and I would be like, it's okay. I'm going to be in the kitchen eating your snacks and talking to your mom. I'm not playing Bloody Mary with y'all. Good call. I'm too chicken. I'm too chicken when it comes to bloody Mary and that's a ritual. You know what I mean? That's it. You, you are. Um, and for those of you that don't know, and it's in movies all the time, right? Um, it's when you go into a room, turn down the lights, keep it dimly lit, but you look into a mirror and you chant bloody Mary and Until she appears. Right. And you, you, um, you touch the mirror, you place your forehead on it. You lean into it. You chant bloody Mary three times, and then you look into the mirror and see what happens. I, I I've never done it. I'm not going to take my chances. It freaks me out. It totally. I mean, what if, and here's the thing with it, I'm going to flip it back to you. There has been actual study put into this and that if you stare into your own reflection in any dimly lit room, you will see faces appear. You don't even have to say Bloody Mary. It's the way your brain starts interpreting what you're looking at, and things can start to distort, and you can have your face change, possibly a younger version of you, an older version of you, and some have even reported. This is like in testing of this, the distortion of just staring into your face in a dimly lit room, what can happen. That dead relatives can also appear on your face. That's I, I just don't want to mess with that. I haven't done it and I don't think I'm going to. It's yeah, it's definitely not for everyone for sure. But so this actually started in the eighteen hundreds and the medieval women in Scotland, they would perform this ritual on Halloween night where they would hope to see their future husband's face in the mirror at midnight. And so then if they were to see a skull in the mirror when looking at it very dimly lit with one little candle and they saw a skull, that means they were gonna die before they got married and this has actually been going on for a very very long time but I think the scottish were kind of the ones that brought it on over here to the states where to now we play bloody mary for fun at least only those that are very courageous to do so And now we think it's pretty, you know, very scary to see what's going to happen. But in this case, during this time in the eighteen hundreds, it was to see their future husband. What were they going to look like? Yeah. In , psychologist Giovanni Caputo ran a whole series of tests in this and said, there's something to it. It's been going on for a long time, but I have had my clients report boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. And I I've, I've no, I just, I'm not going to, I don't want to, Some things need to be, for me, left as a mystery and undiscovered. I don't need confirmation of that. And I can only imagine you at a sleepover or my daughter's sleepover and having four or five little kids run out of the bathroom screaming. And you can't control what they're doing in the bedroom with the closed door. You can't. You can't control that. And what are kids going to do? Hey, you guys want to do Bloody Mary? Let's do Bloody Mary and Ouija. Let's close the door. That's what goes down. Have you done Ouija on a sleepover? No, that's after my time. I didn't do that, but I want to get into our UFO cases now. First, looking at Rome. Rome! To see the Pope! That's from Father Ted, I'm so sorry. Okay, so, according to Livy, who was a very famous author and philosopher during the, like, two hundred BCE timeframe. This is a very, very famous case that took place during the Punic War, where these soldiers were seeing these very strange shield shaped things. disc objects in the sky and also known as like even even phantom ships as well but they were these round shields that were just hovering over these battlefields and it seems as if they were watching the battle and this ended up being reported like what a decade or two or several decades later by livy who went ahead and wrote this down in his book from the founding of the city and And funny enough, this is actually something that we've seen consistently across ancient times into more modern times where UFO sightings take place during war zones. And Jimmy and I, funny enough, did a whole episode on that. And we actually covered this case as well. But it's one that we definitely have to look at because this sighting took place in the month of October. Well, really during the harvest season, which is anywhere between September to November. But we can assume here it took place in and around October. And it's something that... we've heard this description before of these round-type shields hovering in the sky because that's the best way they were able to describe it in the year two hundred BCE. Language is always adapting to how we attempt and describe these UFO sightings, and this is a very good example of that. Yeah, according to Levy, during the Second Punic War, And this was to two, eighteen B.C. All of the people in Rome, including the army, witnessed the strange phenomenon in the sky. And they described it as a fleet of ships appearing to sail across the heavens. And he specifically uses the term, Christina, ships. specifically that to describe what people saw in the sky. And this is a direct quote. This is what he wrote. A spectacle of ships gleamed in the sky. Now you have to ask yourself, what is it? that they were seeing. Now he's using, you know, obviously a very descriptive term in ships, but also gleaned. So would you confuse this with something else, clouds or a planet, Venus, some other natural situation? He's saying gleaned and he's using the word ships. And this is what the people of Rome and also the army use as descriptors here. Now, if we move on in this same... This isn't the only... incidents like this, because let's move on. There's two other points in time here where we can go, which is seventy-six B.C. and seventy-four B.C., because Pliny the Elder said that in seventy-six B.C.E., the flame of the star's fire was to be seen in the sky. What's he describing here with this? He says it landed and went back to heaven and transformed into light. Now that's, that's fascinating to me. But then two years later, two years, right? Plutarch of, uh, uh, described a UFO in seventy four B.C. And you've got details on this, too. I've got a brief introduction on this because he says that Again, in October, before the battle between armies of Lucullus and Mithridates VI in Asia, a large object in the sky between the armies appeared in flames in the shape of a wine vessel and I remember you and I doing a whole show on this it's fascinating but he described now a wine vessel so what are we seeing here are we talking about a wine bottle okay or is he talking about a jar full of wine, right? A vessel. And now tipping that sideways or keeping it upright, in some ways, they kind of look the same. You're going to have a container, but with some kind of end on it, whether it's the top of a bottle, a wine bottle, or the top of a vessel, which sometimes has handles on it, you know, and they put a lid and they wrapped it up for transport. Now, And then he goes further. He takes it into crazy town because he says it looked like molten silver. Right now, what not not a silver coin, not silver in color. But molten silver, what does molten silver look like? When you see a drop of it, right, a bead of it, a ball of it, where it's got curves and reflection, I think that's what he was trying to describe. So it's a vessel that looks like a bead of chrome, right, of reflective metal. Very interesting, isn't it? It is. And I actually like the way that you dived into attempting to describe the molten silver. And because it would display to us that there were no bolts, right? There were no ridges. It was just a very smooth surface. And we've heard that description too many times to count. But for this to take place... In seventy four B.C.E. and to have that kind of description without seeing any of these bolts, even even to the eyes of these of these warriors. It's pretty remarkable, actually, to get that kind of description. Also, A.J. Raffles, thank you so much for the ten pounds. It says release Woodwick. I actually don't know what that means. If you can describe that to me, I would really like that. And Cindy, thank you so much for the twenty dollar super chat. It says happy Halloween, Wednesday, Adams and Harley guy. That's your name. Oh, that's great. Actually, we got to change your name. We got to change your name now in the. OK, take it away. Um, Woadwick, uh, is, uh, Roderick. If you go, I think it's, I think it's Monty Python. I think it's Monty Python and he can't say the letter R as he spoke. So he couldn't say the letter R. So he would say Woadwick. Okay. No, that, that makes more sense. I haven't, I haven't watched it diligently. Monty Python, but I'm familiar with some of the phrases and quotes, but I didn't know that one. I think that's, whoa, man, that is hilarious. That's a good one. But going back to this, And then we'll move on. We've got a lot to cover in the next thirty minutes. Is that we have three different sightings over Rome in a hundred year period before the time of Christ. Right. So we're talking two hundred B.C. and seventy four. So one hundred twenty five year period. And those two sightings, one in seventy six B.C. and one seventy four B.C., All describing an eerily similar phenomena above Rome. And what is it that everybody was seeing? I would say that meteors, meteorites, shooting stars, possibly comets once in a while, that kind of cosmic phenomenon going on in the sky, people would be familiar with that and wouldn't freak out. Well, they would freak out, but they wouldn't describe it as gleaming or silver or metallic or landing and then taking back off into the heavens. No. So what is it, Christina, that they were seeing in Rome? Fascinating. And if it was ET, if it was UFOs, what was Rome at that time? The center of the planet. Right? Technology, civilization, they had it going on. They were building things. And so would ET be interested in Rome? I would think so. You know, the clashes of these giant armies and the technology of the time was all represented in what armies possessed, just like we do today. So yeah, something was, something was in the skies over Rome, uh, the two hundred and one hundred BC. Fascinating. And there's been a lot of UFO sightings in and around Rome, across Europe, across the world. And you're right. During that time frame, Rome felt and it displayed how they were able to conquer the world, that they were at the center. They were at the center of everything for them at the time. And it would only make sense that those that are not from Earth that want to get an understanding of what's going on, it would be to visit one of the most powerful civilizations of the time to understand what they're doing, how they're succeeding, and especially looking at the battles. What technology are they using? Who's going to win? Because that's going to change everything when it comes to the future. and their timeline of how the rest of the world is going to react to those kinds of battles. So it's very, very interesting. And if I were in these craft, these UFO craft, I would also like to watch these kinds of battles go back in time so that at least for myself, I'm able to see what exactly happened and then how it created this domino effect for everything else to take place soon after. It's pretty remarkable. I mean, really, Jimmy, we just need a TARDIS. We need a UFO that can go in and around TARDIS. Everything. Yeah, we do. And we can't dismiss the significance. We talk about it. But we can't dismiss the significance of the influence that Rome had on the entire world at that time. Building of roads, all the cities had their own coliseum, arches, aqueducts, and of course the other technology, catapults and flaming this and the archery equipment and the way that They developed these very advanced armies and armor and everything else that was Rome. You know, you think about the technology going into the Colosseum. They built Colosseums all over Europe. They built them everywhere. They built them in Africa. And so, yeah, the influence of Rome and where technology was and cement and quarrying and stones and the development of the arch and aqueducts. This is what Rome represented at the time. So, sure, E.T. would want to know where we are with technology and evolution. And Rome at that time represented all of it. Yeah. What was that? What was what? What? Did you guys hear that? Again? Did you guys? No, I didn't hear anything. I didn't hear anything. I had my headphones. You don't hear that? No. Do you guys hear this? Yeah, they're hearing it. Yeah. Why am I not hearing it, but everyone else is? What does it sound like? It sounds like a laser alien battle. That's it. Yes. Look, video game, video game, video game. Maybe it's the TARDIS coming to pick us up. You did not hear that. It's not coming from me. I took my headphones off. It's not in here. What? You're not hearing that. Yeah, somebody just said it was the TARDIS. It's probably. It happened twice. It happened twice. Are you ready? Are you packed? Do you have a backpack full of ramen to go on a trip? Somebody just said it was the Doctor Who TARDIS sound. That's exactly what it was. Did you play it back? Were you playing it? I don't know. Was I? Oh, man. That was me. It was me. That one was me. Oh, we got jokes. We got jokes. Man, I'm like, ah, I've got a flying saucer over the studio. The Doctor Who TARDIS sound. All right, where are we now? Okay, we're now, we have traveled to, century and to a different country to Japan in the year twelve thirty five during the harvest festivals that took place. So we're looking at September, October, November. But for this one, this is a very famous case. It's actually one of the oldest reports of a UFO sighting in Japan where there was an official investigation of a possible UFO presence And it says here that an officer by the name of General Yuritsume and his army were settling down in their camp when they spotted these very mysterious lights in the sky. And the general and his troops watched in total astonishment as these lights performed this amazing acrobatic movement, such as circling endlessly and then flying in loops. So they were... baffled by this aerial display so then the general ordered a scientific investigation of what he had just witnessed and the explanation that this scientist gave to the general was like nothing to worry about my friend it's just the wind that is swaying the stars right funny enough jimmy I'm bringing this up to present day we heard this rather recently did we not The answer is yes. We did? We did hear this very recently where an Air Force general had stated that these UFOs that were seen were in a constellation. shaped as a constellation and here we are in this one this this case in japan took place in and I feel like we're hearing very very similar things back then and then in present day but this was one of the first scientific investigations done on ufos to according to recorded knowledge and And even so, it's giving Project Blue Book vibes of like, I can answer this for you. I know everything because I'm super smart. Yeah, yeah. And I want everybody to understand, it was the General's Journal that was translated that used the word scientific report. That's what he or a scientific report. So he brings in his brightest. He brings in his best. And he says, I want the facts here. I want to know what's going on. I want a scientific report. And he ordered it. And I find that part really fascinating to think about that time period and when this went down. There were a lot of things that were going on in Japan, in and around Japan at that time. And what is strange for me, when you look at these reports, that they used nature to They use storms, they use typhoons, they use thunder for that was responsible for moving this stuff around in the sky and on the ground. Right. It was like really strange to say that these planets are moving. These stars are moving. These objects in the skies are moving because of a storm, because of wind. But they didn't understand propulsion systems. Right. And what it took to move stuff around in the sky. We know that now. But back then you're looking at something bright. moving around in the sky and changing directions, well, you're going to think that it was the wind, that there was something else pushing these objects around. That's right. And, Nick, happy birthday to your daughter. Awesome to have your birthday on Halloween. Best birthday ever. Best birthday ever. Best birthday ever. I, um... Talking about Halloween and TARDISes, I have my own sonic screwdriver. I thought I would share it. Because Doctor Who is so cool. At least the first few seasons. Yeah. It's been on for a hundred years. I think Doctor Who started before television. I'm pretty sure. Have you watched the black and white? Have you watched the old black and white ones? No, I have not yet. They're amazing. They're amazing. Really good. Really good. Really good. I like the new stuff. And I jump into it once in a while. The problem that I have with Doctor Who, it's more like a fear or a phobia, is that if you really do it and get started, you'll never stop. And it would take me fifty years to watch it all. Right? Right? That's my fear. That's it. Have you seen Jimmy lately? And I'm, oh, he hasn't come out of his house in three months. And I'm sitting there with the remote control clicking next episode. And there's crumbs everywhere. Yeah, crumbs, a beard. Yes, yes. Yes, that's why. That's why. I can deal with one or two seasons of something. I can get that out of the way. All right, that thing's been on the air since like, like, I don't know. Hold on for a second. Let's get our facts right. Hold on. Since about nineteen sixty one. That sounds about right. That sounds about right. OK, so let's let's get this. Oh, first episode. Oh, no. First episode was on my birthday. on your birthday are you ready that was like not that long ago are you ready november twenty november twenty-third right right it's a fall thing we should have done that for the show november twenty-third nineteen sixty-three oh wow no it's a month after but yeah it's also is that the day kennedy was assassinated Is that a fun fact? Hold on a minute. So it's November twenty third, nineteen sixty three. Hold on a minute. You look that up. And thank you so much for the five dollar super chat. It says, who is your favorite doctor? I'm going with David Tennant. Then Matt Smith. Second, I'm with you on that one. I'm going with David Tennant, too. I like everything David Tennant does. Yeah. November twenty second, nineteen sixty three. So the first good memory. Yeah, so the first episode aired the day after his assassination. Coincidence? Yeah, what? Right? Right? Yeah, David Tennant. What was it? Good Omens? That TV show? Yes, loved it. He was so good. Season one was really good. Both were good. If he wasn't in it, I'm not sure it would have been the same show. I know. Yeah, he nailed it. He nailed it. Okay. Uh, what are we doing next? Oh, okay. So look, can we stay in Japan? Uh, yes. No problem. You get ramen and sumo wrestlers. I did do ramen today. I do ramen every Thursday. Yeah, I do. I do. All right. Twelve seventy four Kyoto, Japan. OK, so what was I just mentioning about nature? Right. But there's another phenomenon going on. But everybody looks at nature as to the cause. In November of twelve seventy four, a fleet of nine hundred ships and forty thousand Mongol troops invaded Japan. Or did they? Was there an intervention? Did something... Did E.T. come to the rescue, Christina? Would they, is the question. What happened? You tell me. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. This is your fun fact. You're the Japanese historian. I'm just here to ride my Harley onto the set. That's all I'm here for. The entire fleet. Okay, we're talking about nine hundred ships. Forty thousand Mongol troops destroyed. Never made it to the shore. And there were sightings of things in the sky. There were strange occurrences that took place. Japan was completely outnumbered. This was a serious invasion. That... Well, it sort of happened. They arrived, but they were defeated. And this is something that throughout history, again, well, it was a storm that came in. It was a typhoon that came in. It was the wind carried the ships. The wind, lightning struck. But at the same time, things were seen in the sky. that were unexplainable. So was it another intervention by ET in Japan over a battle like in Rome, once again in history? And if you're ET, are you interested in nine, nine hundred ships, forty thousand troops? That is a major, major military encouragement. It is. And actually, I want to dive deeper into this because there's a lot of mixed feelings on the next thing I'm going to say. But first, Rob, thank you so much. That is so kind. He says, Wednesday and Harley guy, happy Halloween. Happy Halloween right back at you. Okay. The thing that I want to mention here is there is this... overall consensus that people think that these ufos and et are here to help humanity cure cancer save the world save the planet but then when the bomb dropped on hiroshima and nagasaki where were they then right it's it's this constant debate that I have heard too many times and I'm thinking It's a little valid. It's a valid argument to have. If you're saying all these great things about how great they are and how they protected you and saved you, why didn't they save the hundred thousand people that perished in an instant at Hiroshima, right? Especially if they have this interest in nuclear weapons that we've seen time and time again. One of the best examples is the Rendlesham base in England, right? Yes. Why didn't they stop the bomb? Was it to teach children that if you play with matches, you'll get burned? Was it because they don't care because they can't interfere because they can't change the timeline or because they just, they weren't there. They just didn't show up or they just don't like people from Hiroshima. Okay. I want to ask everybody, I want to defer this to the chat room really quick. Did I drop out? Or did I stay on the air because I briefly lost the internet for about two seconds and everything went blank here and I had to reload the screens, but I don't know if my camera was still active and feeding out. So was there a hiccup? No, I stayed on the air. Okay. That's that's cool. Okay. But now we lost Christina. Okay. Christina is now gone. Oh, Christine is back. So what's going on? Well, here's something else that needs to be addressed, is that those bombs that were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, they were very centralized bombs. They're just hitting that one spot. And those weren't necessarily a threat to the world. Now, the bombs that we have today, the amount of bombs that we have today would devastate the entire planet in one or two goes for thousands of years to come. So I think that if a bomb were to drop again, twenty, twenty four, twenty, twenty five, we might not have the income expected maybe then. Because it would devastate the entire planet. Maybe then they would say, you know what? We should probably stop this one. It's not a good idea. But we won't know until it happens. So let's – here's the thing with that, and then I'm looking at the clock. I want to get into Ghost, and then we can – if we have some time left, we can go backwards because the Ghost stuff that we have is just absolutely phenomenal. And I've got a lot of it that I want to be able to squeeze in. And I know you have a lot of it, too. But back to this. Between Trinity and the testing of the first explosion and what went down in Nagasaki and Hiroshima was nearly instantaneous. And so would ET have observed? Yeah, I think so. Observed Trinity? Yes. And then suddenly knowing that we had the technology to manufacture these bombs, get them on planes and turn around and drop them on people. I think that might have taken, well, it took the world by surprise, but I don't know if ET knew that that was coming. And if they did, would they have stepped in? One thing is for sure, it hasn't happened since. Or has it? And we just didn't know. Oh, man. What? Alternate timeline? Doctor who? Could be. Could be. All right. Let's do ghosts. Can we do ghosts? Let's do ghosts. And I'll let you take the lead on this one. Steven, thank you so much for the four ninety nine super super sticker. Thank you. OK. OK. I'm going to I'm going to excuse me. I'm going to blast through this. I've got a lot. One A.D. Zero A.D. Jesus is walking around, right? Okay, that is a long time ago. All right, so let's think about that for a second. All right, everybody have the timeline in your head. Zero, year one, one AD, Pliny the Younger documents goes for the first time. Now, ideas have been in different scripts throughout the world, right? Mesopotamia, certainly North and South America, Central America. Things were going down in Great Britain. Yeah, for sure. I get that. Egypt, yes. But listen to this. One, year one, he says, okay, so if we go back to year one, In Athens, there was a large house, which in the area had a reputation, and everybody thought it was haunted. They didn't know how to describe it. They didn't know what was going on, but the house was freaking people out. Now, Pliny the Younger said... that strange noises could be heard at night, like iron striking against each other. With a greater concentration, it sounded like rattling change, chains. The sound seemed to be rattling change. Yeah, change in the pocket too as well, right? The sound seemed to be far away, but it would gradually come closer and closer to the person listening to it. Then there would appear a ghost in the form of an old emaciated man, a disgusting man, he said, with long hair and a beard. As the ghost moved, he made the sound of those rattling change, which were on his hands and feet. But then this is where it gets out of control. So that's the story around town. A philosopher, Canaanites, a stoic, straight-faced philosopher, bought the house when he read an announcement about the sale, which he said in his writings, and that's what he did. He wrote a lot. He was a philosopher. He said the house was just too cheap. It was too cheap for what it was and didn't reflect the actual value of the property. So he goes and he looks at it and then he finds out that it's haunted. And he said, sold. He bought it because it was haunted. His first night, check this out, Christina, his first night in the house, he heard chains rattling. So he's yeah, done, done, done. So he's got a lamp. He's got his chair. He's got his little table. He's got a pad of paper, pen and ink, and he's writing. He's a philosopher. He's doing philosophical stuff, right? He is, he is, he is, he is. So, so while he's writing by, by the light of the lamp, right? Um, he hears the chains, but instead of looking towards the chains, he does what a philosopher does. He ignores the ghost. He's a philosopher. He does. Yeah. Yeah. So he's philosophizing. Yeah. So he turns and he's ignoring the ghost. He says, talk to the hand, right? It's all in his writing, this account. And so he turns and he's writing and he's looking at what he is writing. He's focused on what he is writing, pretending not to be interested. Again, this is what he wrote down. Because he's a philosopher. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. He said, I said, speak to the hand. I'm going to focus on my writing, right? However, he writes, the sound did not stop and seemed to be getting closer. Now, in the end, he says, the sound was so clear and close that he had to look up finally. So he looks up from his philosophizing. And sees the dude He sees the ghost And he says The ghost looks at him And raised His hand in response To his talk to the hand And then Yes and he says The ghost then Took his finger And said no So the philosopher While philosophizing and keeping his straight face, that's what he says, he goes, I'm staying stoic. It's in his writing. I'm not making this stuff up. And then he raised his hand. So these guys are doing hand signals back and forth, right? And he raises his hand and orders the ghost to wait. Yeah, talk to the hand. and returned his eyes back to his notes. But then he says the impatient goats, goats, ghosts started rattling his chains in frustration, trying to get his attention. And so then he gets up. and follows the ghost through the house. This is all documented. This is crazy. Follows the ghost through the house and out into the yard. And then the ghost suddenly disappeared. So he marks the spot where the ghost disappeared with a pile of leaves and grass, right? And the next day he calls the cops. He does. They had police in Athens, the Athens PD. Yeah. Yeah. The local authorities showed up and he says, this ghost rattling this change, walk through my house. I followed him out into the yard. He came to this spot and poofed disappeared. So the local authorities started digging and guess what? What? They found a skeleton. That was bound by chains and apparently tortured before his death. What? Take a bow. Take a bow, Jimmy. Mic drop. Happy Halloween. How's that for a ghost story? That's actually crazy. I've never heard of that one before. And that was awesome. And I love the way you told the story. It's all in the writing. These guys are like, talk to the hand. I'm ignoring you. The ghost is like doing his thing and doing the hand gestures and then gets all frustrated and starts rattling his chains to get him to look back up and then follow him out of it. It's a crazy story. Yeah. All written down. If you enjoyed that story, hit that like button right down below because we have a little bit more time left. But we got to know that you're that you're enjoying what we're talking about right here on October thirty first. We got a little bit more. And actually, I'm going to just throw in some crazy things that took place on October thirty first. I'm going to share my screen here, starting off maybe one of the most famous ones. There it is. The broadcasting of War of the Worlds took place October thirty first. And it is one of it's one of the most famous broadcasts of all time because it created such significant panic for all of those that were listening because they believed that they were actually in the middle of an alien invasion. Yeah. And here's OK. Well, OK, so let's back up, though. In the interest of transparency, the broadcast happened on October thirtieth. It was a Halloween broadcast. It was described. It was described as a Halloween broadcast, but it happened on October thirtieth. The newspapers and the AP and everybody else, all of that pandemonium reporting about what happened the night before, that happened on Halloween. So here it is, Halloween, and the newspapers across the country are reporting about this alien invasion that happened the night before that turned out to be a radio broadcast, but everybody thought it was real. And now, when I say everybody, a lot of the listeners at the time, Christina, may not have started listening at the beginning of the show when Orson Welles announced it. Right. And if the, you know, this is a theatrical thing and, and that's what was done, but, but if you picked it up in the middle or even after his introduction, it was meant to be a dramatic performance, right? And they had all of and now we're going to our reporter on the scene. Right. What are you seeing out there? Oh, my God. Right. You know, and and the death. And so that's what they heard. And Orson Welles, he's a great director. He's a great writer, great actor. Right. And he wanted this nailed and he nailed it. It was put on by the Mercury Theater. It was directed and narrated, of course, by Orson Welles. It was an adaptation of H.G. Welles' novel, The War of the Worlds, but most people probably didn't read the book or have any idea about what was going on. It was broadcast live at eight p.m. Eastern, October thirtieth, nineteen thirty eight over the CBS radio network. The episode did cause panic by convincing Not everyone, but almost everyone that was listening on the radio that a Martian invasion was taking place. You go, when you read the newspaper clippings and the headlines of the next day, every city. Now, this was CBS radio. So this is broadcast nationally. We interrupt this broadcast, right? Now, if you're listening to that, what are you going to think? And it's one of the war of the world scenario. And Steven Spielberg's version of it with Tom Cruise, a spot on, really good. And the original film was really good. The original broadcast is really good. But that idea is one of the things that I'm most scared about. What do, what do we do? What would you do? Christina? It's suddenly right. The alert comes over your phone and you look and it's the president is going to speak in. This is the national emergency broadcast network. And then that comes on that, that scares me. That scares me. And because when you least expect it, expect it, that's the first. And every time an alert goes off on your phone, you don't know what's coming and it comes. What are you going to do? TVs go blank and you see the logo of the white house there. And then it clicks over. Well, that's what they went through in. So I can only imagine that. the panic that ensued and that for so many, it was absolutely real. Are you going to have the opportunity, Christina, in a moment like that to second guess the situation? Well, maybe it's not. Maybe it's this. Are you going to do that? I'm asking, would you do that? Or do you just do what your instincts are telling you what to do? You know, right now I'm in a rational mind, so I'll say, oh, I'll act rationally. But if that were to take place in real life, I would grab a lawn chair and sit outside and wait. See what happens. That's probably what I would do. Maybe drink like a strawberry milkshake or something. Make some popcorn. And just watch. See, you have you have your bug out bag. You've got your RV, you've got, you've got all of your equipment, all of your survival gear. And so you're going to be like, uh, uh, uh, uh, what's his name in the movie? With his RV broadcasting from the top of the mountain. Oh, the one that he like perished right after he's like the whole thing. And he just burns into flames. Yeah. Who was that? That was, um, I don't know what his name is, but he has like small teeth or like no teeth. I don't know. No country for old men. What was his name? Someone will know in the chat. Oh, there it is. Woody. Yeah. Woody Harrelson. Yeah. So you're Woody Harrelson. You're Woody Harrelson. You're just going to kick back and just watch it go down. And broadcast. I'd like to. I'd like to do that. That's my goal. Do you have, and if you don't, I'll send you one. Do you have the portable Starlink? No. You don't have that yet? No, but I have like one of those crank radios. No, no, no. Starlink. Internet. Internet from anywhere. The portable Starlink. Oh. You've got, okay. So you got to have that in your bug out bag. It folds up. It's like this big. It's like as big as a fade to black coffee bag. It's like that big. That's how big it is. And then it unfolds and that's your satellite dish. And yeah, look it up right now. Look up portable Starlink and post a picture of it. And if you don't, I will. You do it while I bring in the next one, because Mount Rushmore. Well, there it is. Mount Rushmore finished after fourteen years, finished on October thirty first. Fun fact for that one. And I got a few more for you. I've got to find the pictures in a decent order. There it is. Oh, Harry Houdini died on October the first nineteen twenty six. I feel like that's only appropriate. OK, so I have it here. OK, boom. Yeah, yeah, Harry Houdini. And he was sick for a minute. He wasn't feeling well. And some say it was because he got punched. Some say he had appendicitis. But, you know, the funny thing about that entire situation was that Harry – did his last performance and, and went, went to, uh, what's the word went to the stage. Why I think that, and, and I'm going to say this in a, in a kind way, I don't want to say this in a derogatory sense, but, um, he was talked into going on stage. He, he wasn't feeling well. And I just think that you have promoters, you have tickets sold, you've got a sold out audience. And so they pushed a dude with a hundred and two temperature that was about to pass out on stage and forced him to perform. And he passed out during the performance. And they revived him, Christina. They revived him and got him back up on stage and made sure that he would finish the show. Afterwards, he goes to the hospital and dies. Yeah. Yeah. I used to live across the street and a block or two away from the Houdini mansion where he lived when he, when he died. And it was pretty crazy to have it right across the street. There were all kinds of rumors that it was haunted. It was this big chunk of property, the house itself. It looked very Gothic, like a little mini castle. And so it's sitting there, but it had these really cool fountains and sculptures and statues, but it was all overgrown. So me and my friends would go over there. And so I drove past it every day and looked at it. And once in a while, you would see a couple of cars parked there. Not new cars, but people were there. And I don't want to say like it was a homeless encampment. I don't want to say that, but it was unguarded. It was just wide open to whoever wanted to walk onto the property. So we would go over there at night and walk around. It was pretty freaky. It was a pretty eerie situation. Okay, here it is. There's your Starlink. There's your Starlink right there. For size comparison. How adorable. It's three hundred and forty nine dollars. three hundred forty nine bucks starlink dish a radar dish right an antenna and you can have you can have the internet anywhere on planet earth and and there it is for three hundred and forty nine dollars isn't that cool an appropriate price because it's still kind of new I think it's I think it's crazy cheap When you look at, well, you remember HughesNet.com? HughesNet was the original, well, it still runs HughesNet, so satellite dish. And so a lot of people would put those on top of their RVs. But if you had a cabin out in the woods without internet or cable, HughesNet was your only, or a house that was remote, HughesNet was your only internet choice alternative. If you were out in, you know, the plains of Montana or whatever, or Wyoming or Idaho or wherever where there isn't internet access or cable access. So HughesNet, but HughesNet was expensive. Like, I mean, like a lot of money. And so, and undependable too as well. But Starlink works and it's cheap, three hundred forty nine bucks. There it is. I mean, I don't know how small that is. Yes. Plus a hundred and twenty dollars per month as well. That's cheap. You want to know what I spend on Internet? A lot more than that. A lot more than that. But how tiny is that puppy? How cute is he? Right. So cute. Right. Tiny little puppy this big. So that means, you know, that dish is like I said, it's that big. Like a tablet. Yeah. Size. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, very cool. All right. So do we have time? Last one. Okay. Let's see. What are we going to do? This one. Oh, yeah. We have to do this one. Yes. You covered this one on your breaking news today. I did. So you have the knowledge in the back of your mind. What are we looking at here? Okay. So this is, uh, this is a two thousand and fifteen and this asteroid, uh, shaped like a human skull. And I would say that's where'd you get this image? Has this been doctored? Is this an AI? This is not the real one. No, this is a rendition of it. But I can pull up the real one. No, no, no. Leave it up there. Leave it up there. We'll wrap with this. Because this flew by Earth on Halloween in two thousand and fifteen. And I'm not some things you just can't make up when this happened on Halloween. I covered this on coast. I covered this on fade to black. I covered this on social media. It was like a really big deal. The skull asteroid flying by earth on Halloween and how appropriate because it was already a creepy looking asteroid. But the fact that it was on Halloween just made the whole thing creepier. It did. Here is the original. Yeah, there it is. And then this is how it looks if it were to be sharpened. There it is. There it is. There it is. Well, that's why I was asking, is that a real image? Because it did look like a skull without its jawbone on it. It had the nose. It had the whole thing and the eyes and the sockets and the brows. It was very cool. But yeah, that happened on this day, Christina, in two thousand and fifteen. And it is known as the Halloween asteroid, but the actual name is twenty fifteen TB one four five, which I don't know where they come up with these names because that does not roll off the tongue by any means. But this. flew by, as Jimmy had mentioned, in twenty fifteen, October thirty first, and it passed within three hundred thousand miles of our planet, closer than the moon's average orbital distance of two thousand three hundred and ninety thousand miles per hour. And then this massive space rock, which is about twenty one hundred feet in width, was earned its spooky nickname due to the skull-like appearance which was viewed through scientific instruments, like your fancy telescopes that you can't buy at the grocery store. But what's remarkable about this is the shape. We haven't come across anything like this since. And... What's cool about this one is that it has a three point zero four year orbital period and it will be brought back for another more distant past by Earth, which it already did in November of twenty eighteen. But in twenty fifteen, that's why the reason why it was so significant was because it happened on Halloween. Then it took place again in two thousand and eight. And then you can do the math on when it will come back after. So pretty cool stuff. I think it's a great way to end today's show on something this freaky. Happy Halloween, everybody. Have fun tonight. Go trick-or-treating. Hand out lots of candy. Have a lot of fun. Happy Halloween. I'll see everybody tonight on Fade to Black.
