Today, we're taking an adventure to New England, covering all their strange and mysterious UFO sightings. And to start off, I actually have a fun fact. Because over the twenty-two year history of the federal government's Project Blue Book program, some twelve thousand cases were reported. Now, of those, nearly two hundred... came from the state of Massachusetts alone. And the cases included here were officially deemed unidentified or unknown, while several weren't even considered suitable to be labeled even in those vaguest of terms, with no conclusion reached at all. those numbers alone are pretty insane hello and welcome to this episode of mysteries with the history where you'll be taken on a wild ride into the unknown the strange and the mysterious like you I have questions and like you I want answers and with each episode together we will peel away the layers to look for the truth before I bring in my co-host jimmy church a fate of black radio I do want to state that strangest news of the week is being pushed to mondays instead of fridays so write that down click that notification bell subscribe so that you know exactly when those shows come out with that being said let's bring in our co-host jimmy happy thursday as it is every thursday What's cracking? How you doing? Hello, everybody. Hello. How you doing? How you doing this? Um, uh, I have to ask why, why new England and what rabbit hole were you jumping into this week? I was skimming through a lot of my UFO books, and I came across a few cases that took place in New England, and I thought that'd be such a cool show. And in New England, they're just hitting this beautiful season. Their autumn, their fall is just stunning. We're in that season now. It just seemed appropriate to cover it today. Okay, fall, the color of the leaves got you into this. Okay, all right, all right, I'm not buying it. I'm not buying it, but we have a lot to cover. And Christina just laid down the rules of the show with me before we went live. She said, Jimmy, no long stuff. We need to, this is it. We're checking out at sixty minutes. So we have a lot to cover. today. And these are some of my favorite cases. Some of them we have covered before, but some of them probably nobody has ever heard of. And you're right about that. They are the subjects of a few of my favorite books. And we're going to get into all of that. And let's go with the oldest first. Let's start there. Let's start with John Winthrop. I'm going to hand it over to you because I have some follow-up stuff for this. And on a side note, in the interest of transparency, we cover this case in a movie that I narrated a few years ago. And when at that time I had heard about the case, But I hadn't jumped into it. I just knew about it because of who was involved and who John Winthrop was at the time. But in narrating the film, I got to get into the investigation that the producers and the director of the film had done. And this is an interesting case. And there's more to it than the original sixteen thirty nine entry in John Winthrop's journal. So I'm going to hand it over to you and then let's let's continue with this fascinating case. fastinating because we're gonna do this fast aha sorry okay west decker thank you so much for the ten dollar super chat it says cheers to christina and jimmy the best team in the biz dun dun thank you okay so looking at john winthrop the guy that we're seeing on screen right here he documented a sighting that people that he knew had in his colony back in sixteen thirty nine and he really emphasized here before Before I even tell you what he wrote down, he really, really emphasized that the people that he was speaking to that had this very strange experience were sober people. So that it's implying that we should trust these men and their word. So what happened is that it took place back in March of sixteen thirty nine, where three men were rowing along the muddy river, reported seeing a bright, fiery light in the sky. And then the light changed shape. And at times these men had described it as looking like a pig. And it moved swiftly between the river and Charlestown. And the witnesses said, And this is the crazy part, is that after they saw this strange light in the sky, they experienced missing time. And then they found themselves upstream with no memory on how they got there. So we are seeing a strange light in the sky. They're experiencing missing time. And then they are in a different location. There's more that took place in Massachusetts in the years to follow. But, Jimmy, what did you want to add to that case before we move on? Yeah, there is all of that. And I will say that part of the reporting, the journalism and the comments of the time were just that. sober, light and respected gentlemen of the town. Right. They would always, they would emphasize that part that this isn't somebody that's drinking and right. And it is not attending church, you know, on Sunday. And so, uh, they definitely emphasized that part of it. And, and John Winthrop, of course, did the same thing here. Um, The description, there was the pig description, and there's a quote from his journal that says that when it stood still, it flamed up and was about three yards square. When it ran, it was contracted into the figure of a swine. So we have a shape-shifting situation going on here. Yeah, I mean, like, for real, right? Yeah. And isn't it interesting to get that kind of comment from sixteen thirty nine? Now, I do want to note that the journal entry was on March fourth. We don't have the exact date of the sighting because Winthrop said previously. three men were. So that's the way it was written. It was entered in his journal on March first, sixteen thirty nine. He went on to say that over the course of two to three hours, the boatman said that the mysterious light ran as swift as an arrow darting back and forth between them in the village of Charlestown. The distance of approximately two miles diverse other credible persons, right? Other credible persons. saw the same light after and about the same place. He wrote that when the strange apparition finally faded away, the three Puritans in the boat, Puritans, by the way, right? You got to add that emphasis of their background. They found themselves one mile upstream as if the light had transported them there. Now, let's follow up on this. Another entry. And Winthrop's diary dated January eighteenth, sixteen forty four. Now, the previous entry was sixteen thirty nine. So this is five years later. Now I'm quoting. This is directly from his diary. About midnight, three men coming in a boat to Boston saw two lights arise out of the water near the north point of Town Cove. in the form like a man and went at a small distance to the town. And so the, to the South point and there vanished away a week later. Same journal, sixteen forty four Winthrop wrote about another unexplained celestial event over Boston Harbor. Quote, a light like the moon arose about the northeast point in Boston and met the former at Nottles Island. And they there they closed in one. and then parted and closed and parted diverse times. And so went over the hill in the island and vanished. Sometimes they shot out flames and sometimes sparkles. This was about eight o'clock in the evening and then was seen by many. Now, This is his English quoting directly from his journal. Then he continues with this, Christina, quote, about the same time, a voice was heard upon the water between Boston and Dorchester calling out the most dreadful manner, quote, boy, boy, come away, come away, end quote. And it suddenly shifted from one place to another a great distance and about twenty times. It was heard by diverse godly persons. Again, background, right? About fourteen days after, the same voice in the same dreadful manner was heard by others on the other side of town towards Nottles Island. What was going on in Boston back then, right? You've got a glowing man rising out of the water, right? Going to shore and then disappearing. You've got these voices appearing. And he says, heard on both sides of the water by the townspeople, by the godly. townspeople. I might add Nottles Island, Boston Harbor, crazy, crazy stuff going on. Now was John Winthrop, um, somebody that, uh, now he was governor of the base colony. Okay. Uh, an elected official. Um, was he, was he just prone to this stuff? Was he hearing it? Was, was he interested in the subject? Uh, I'm not so sure, but it was important enough for him to log it into his own personal diary. Christina, very interesting cases. Well, since he was also the governor of that area, it would only seem appropriate to be documenting all the strange things taking place. But yes, of course, that personal interest would also add a layer to it, especially if he documented strange things consistently. Right. That one time back in nineteen thirty nine. OK, it's just that one one experience. But then have then continuing to report it in in sixteen forty four, just a few years after just that. seeing these strange things happen under his jurisdiction it's appropriate it should be appropriate right for them to document it but you're right it is also a little bit shocking of what's really going behind the scenes um why does he have an interest in this did he have an interest before he started writing down or documenting these very strange things and it just gets more bizarre because then In August of seventeen sixty five, thousands reportedly saw a flying black giant hovering over Boston, causing destruction before vanishing. And then in April of seventeen seventy eight, witnesses across a wide area observed a black cloud moving rapidly near the ground. passing through solid objects and emitting strange noises. But then, if we were to get into the twentieth century, there was one sighting that took place in December of nineteen oh nine, where a mysterious airship with a bright beam of light was seen moving across the sky with similar sightings reported in Boston and in Lynn the following night. Massachusetts is a wacky state. Not only is it just beautiful and classified as the Bay State, but you're dealing with such old UFO sightings into modern times. And as I had mentioned at the very beginning of the show, with Project Blue Books... Research of the twelve thousand cases that they looked at, two hundred alone were in Massachusetts. Those are pretty high statistics, especially when out of those two hundred, the majority of them were in the categories of unidentified or unknown or even in the category of no conclusion. That's significant information when it comes to this state. Yeah, this area, paranormal, supernatural, witchcraft, right? UFOs. And going back to Winthrop, before we move on, we've got a lot of stuff we're going to cover today, everybody. Winthrop describing in sixteen forty four, right, sixteen forty four, an object like the moon rising out of the water and then emitting flames. And he described sparkles. Now, this is an object coming out of the water. So what is it to have a report like that from back then? An object that comes out of the water is wet. It's moist. Where are the flames coming from? Where are the sparkles coming from? I believe that the sighting was real. And for him to describe it that way, and then other sightings similar to this in the area, you just have to ask yourself, what is going on? That's the best question we can ask. Really? Jimmy, what case do you want to cover next? Let's go with... Okay, you know what? Let's go in order. Let's go with Buffledge. Let's go with Buffledge. Now, Buffledge, and I happen to have... This book. Okay. By Walter Webb. And, uh, it's old and it's weathered and I have it and, and it's discontinued just to add that. Yeah. Yeah. And you can find it out there. Probably used is probably going to be expensive, but it's worth it because it's a three hundred page book. It is called Encounters at Buffledge by Walter Webb. It was published in nineteen ninety four. Like I said, it's a three hundred page investigation into the UFO sighting at Buffledge, which was a camp, a summer camp for kids. And the incident happened August seventh, nineteen sixty eight by then. Sixteen year old Michael Lapp, who went on, by the way, to become an actor and a model. OK, I just want to throw that in there. And nineteen year old camp counselor, Janet Cornell. They were out on a little pier, a sixteen year old and a nineteen year old kids like this out on the pier. What were they doing on the pier at night? Well, that's a whole nother story altogether. But Webb did a five year investigation of the mystery at the camp after he first heard about it. Now, this is what we've got. Lapp reported that he and a nineteen-year-old camp counselor, her name is Janet Cornell, were watching the sunset on the dock, that's what kids do in the evening, when they spotted a glowing, I'm quoting, glowing cigar-shaped object out of which three smaller objects emerged. Moments later, Two figures appeared through the craft's dome and communicated with Lapp telepathically, saying, we are not here to hurt you. There was another comment in Webb's book, by the way, that they were looking for alternative energy sources. And I found that to be pretty interesting. Now, Lapp reported that the disc shone a beam of light on him and the girl before they lost consciousness. They woke up to voices of campers that were returning from a swimming meet that was going on there locally. And they all saw the UFO emit a rapid fire series of flashes before fading out of sight. It's a fantastic, fantastic encounter. You're muted. Thank you. Walter Webb did significant research on this. As Jimmy had mentioned, it was five years' worth of investigations, calling these two witnesses time and time again to see if he had missed any details in their encounter or if they missed saying anything, so much so that he helped them get regression hypnosis sessions as well in order to unlock some of the memories that might have Might have been missing. And what he realized is that when he interviewed them separately, these two witnesses, and when he did the regression hypnosis sessions separately, there were a lot of connections between the two. And what Webb had noticed is that Michael had stated from his regression hypnosis that He mentioned that he remembered seeing Jeanette or was it Jeanette or Janet? Janet, Janet, Janet. Thank you. Seeing Janet having being evaluated while he was also being evaluated in some kind of room, maybe even on the craft room. When Janet had her regression hypnosis, it was a very similar experience as well. But what's interesting here is that a lot of the times when we hear of these alien abductions or people are being examined, there is this extreme level of fear. You're not in control of the situation. In many cases, you're paralyzed. But for Janet, she had stated that she felt very calm, as Jimmy had mentioned, and that these entities were telling her telepathically, we're not here to hurt you. So much so that she was okay. From her regression hypnosis sessions, she was okay to be going through this. And then they were placed back on the dock. They experienced missing time. And they had no memory of what took place. All they remember was seeing this strange light in the sky, this strange cylindrical object in the sky. And that was it. So for years, they didn't actually know what happened until... They had those regression hypnosis sessions. But Webb took an extra step and he also attempted to interview other witnesses that were in the camp in the vicinity during that time frame. And what he realized is that some of the witnesses had mentioned they also saw some strange lights in the sky. And another witness, a Playhouse director, recalled seeing a silvery glow moving in the sky as well. And Webb was doing this entire investigation over the five-year period, but about what? It was about ten years after the incident. Is that right? Mm-hmm. So it's a remarkable case. Well, if he hadn't have, you know, he got a phone call and somebody tells him about the case and then he turns around and does this investigation. And what we have to remember is that Michael and Janet, this is summer camp, right? So they go and they live their lives and separately, right? Walter Webb chases them both down and, and he finds Janet and these two hadn't communicated. And that's the interesting part. Their stories matched, uh, the regressions matched more or less. It was very interesting. Um, and the eyewitness accounts from the other campers in the area and other employees of the summer camp all corroborated the story. So it's a strange case. I think it's an important case. It's a great book if you can find it. And again, right there in the New England area. It's nuts. Do you want to... Let's take your RV to Massachusetts, man. That's where it's happening. It's where it's happening. And we've got so much more. Let's go to... Do you have anything else you want to add to this case? I actually want to mention one more thing before we move on. And that is Michael had stated to Webb that right before he lost consciousness, he... What he experienced and what he heard were these machine-like noises and voices as well. And we can apply that sentence or those details to the craft or maybe even to these entities that are speaking in a more mechanical voice, a mechanical kind of accent. which we've heard in a few previous cases, one of them being the Calaras Brazil incident where Captain Urangelima had mentioned when he was being hugged by behind by this entity, he was speaking to the captain in this robotic Portuguese. Maybe we could apply the same thing to this particular case and the question would be are these maybe these alien greys are they robotic right there's there's a lot of theories and possibilities on that are we dealing with a hundred percent robots which okay this is actually really cool this is a fun fact that I learned playing my um trivia game app is that the word robot is it is a czech word it's it's not even english it's it's It's awesome. I just wanted to say that. You just want to connect every case to Caloris. That's all you want to do. You know it's one of my favorite cases, Jimmy. That's all you want to do. You want to say the captain's name. You want to, you know, that's just. Anyway, yeah. You're right about that, though. You're right about that. Robot, though, is not. It's Czech. Yeah. Is that right? I did not know that. I looked it up after I got my answer wrong in my trivia and I'm like, there's no way. And yes, it was created by a science fiction author in the eighteen hundreds. And he he made he practically made up that word. And then his brother, who was also an author, ended up kind of popularizing that word. And now we use it every day. It's like an everyday word. That's not true. That's not true. Is that true? I'm going to look it up right now. Hold on. Hold on. Origins of the word. While you do that, Bigfoot, Michigan, Rob, thank you so much for the five dollars. It says, hey, Christina and Jimmy. It comes from the Czech word robata, which means forced labor or serf. It was first used in Karol Kopeck's, I can't say that, which is about a fictional company that manufactures human-like machines to do dangerous, dull, and hard work. There you go. Who knew? Who knew? Check out the big brain on Christina. All right, moving on. Okay. Moving on. Well, you want me to pick? I picked the last one. I can keep going. Go for it. Okay. Let's go with the incident at Exeter. And there's a few reasons why I want to do this. It's kind of chronological. We're going to go to the past. Because we have some newer cases that come later. But let's go... A little bit in chronological order. Now, the book, which I have, Incident at Exeter, another Fowler book. He's one of my favorite authors. I talk about him all the time. Incident at Exeter, you can get. Go and get it. It is about as compelling as it gets. Okay, now here are, there's two sides to this case, Christina. All right. So we have the basic setup to the case, which I'm going to do now, which is September third, nineteen sixty five at about two a.m. Eighteen-year-old Norman Muscarello was hitchhiking. And hitchhiking is a thing that they used to do back in the seventies. Christina, you've never hitchhiked. You don't even, nobody, I have not seen somebody hitchhiking since nineteen seventy-eight. Why are you, I, I saw it like a few weeks ago and I was like, I'm not stopping. I swear it. I did like ride off the highway too. What kind of crazy person hitchhikes these days? I have no idea. Now two things happen. If somebody is hitchhiking these days, the hitchhiker has a gun, right? You better right. Number one or two, the person picking you up. Has a gun. I mean, there is no trust these days. Back in the seventies, people were a bit nicer. Maybe, I don't know. But today, I mean, there is this insane level of paranoia that this person is going to hurt you, steal from you or other people. That's right. I haven't seen anybody hitchhiking in ages. Anyway, so September third, nineteen sixty five, eighteen year old Norman Muscarello is hitchhiking to his home in Exeter along New Hampshire Route one fifty. Now, there's lots of details to this front part of the story. I'm going to get to the back half of it, but that's the setup. Muscarello noticed five flashing bright red lights in the distance, which he initially believed to be the lights of a police car or a fire engine. As he drew nearer, he was startled to see that the lights were hovering in the air, Christina. That's right. And just above the trees and illuminating a nearby field and two houses were were being covered in this brilliant red light. He estimated the object to be eighty to ninety feet in diameter. Now he panics. He goes, he he's pounding on the house doors. Nobody answers either house. Okay. I'm not going to get into the details of that, but they're the names and the places and so forth. I just want to get the second part of this. So he runs out to the street. He sees headlights of an approaching car. He ran into the road and forced the car to stop. The couple in the car drove the frightened kid to the Exeter police station. Now. He goes in. He's panicked. He goes in. He tells the police what he just saw, this giant craft above. And he knows exactly where it is, where the road is, and where the houses are. The police start to write up a report. But then one of the officers, his name is Bertrand. There's a couple of officers involved here. But he goes, okay, kid. Let's get in the car. So they go. They drove Muscarello back to the area of his sighting. All right. And at first, Christina, this is where things get out of control and they get out of control quickly. They don't see anything strange. So when they left the car and walked into the field towards the woods where Muscarello had first seen the lights, some horses in a nearby corral became frightened and starting to neigh very loudly. They started kicking the fence and the sides of the barn. Dogs in the area started to bark and howl. And then Bertrand, Officer Bertrand of Muscarello, then saw the object slowly rise from the trees behind the corral. Bertrand described the UFO as, and I'm quoting here, this is in his police report, this huge dark object as big as a barn. With red flashing lights on it, the object moved silently towards them, swaying back and forth. Instinctively remembering his police training, Bertrand dropped to one knee, drew his revolver. Christina, he was going to shoot this thing, right? And then he changed his mind. Yeah. to himself, shooting at this is not a good idea. So he reholstered his revolver, grabbed Muscarello, and both ran back to the patrol car. Bertrand radioed another Exeter policeman, David Hunt, for assistance, and while the two waited in the car for Hunt to arrive, they continued to watch the UFO. Bertrand and Muscarello observed the object as it hovered one hundred feet away and at about a hundred feet in altitude. That's very close and very low to the ground. And they kept saying that it was rocking back and forth. It was pulsating those red lights. And then they went into a rapid sequence, first from left to right and then right to left, each cycle consuming no more than a couple of seconds. Very interesting. The animals continued to freak out, and the object was still there when Officer Hunt arrived a few minutes later, and he also watched it. Finally, the object rose over the trees and disappeared. Hunt soon heard the engines of a B-Forty-Seven bomber as it flew overhead, and he later said that, quote, you could tell the difference between the UFO and the bomber. There was no comparison. The three men then drove back to the Exeter police station and immediately filed separate reports on what they had seen. Bertrand then drove Muscarello home, and you know what he did? He ratted him out. He told his parents everything. Yeah, your kid just watched a UFO off of Highway one fifty. And now Project Blue Book got involved in this case. The Air Force got involved in this case. Quintanilla got involved in this case and started to dismiss everything. And now the official, I'm going to turn this over to you because I know that you have the Blue Book stuff on this. Blue Book originally said, we can't explain it. And then the Air Force stepped in and said, we were doing exercises in the area. You mistook what we were doing. You were mistaken. It was actually the Air Force doing their stuff, and you didn't see anything at all. There's actually a lot of contradicting conclusions to this case, because after this whole thing took place, there were a handful of witnesses. The police, they documented it, right? They had to write the paperwork for it. So then the Air Force initially attributed the sighting to stars and planets twinkling due to the temperature inversion, which they let me just state that they learned that that crappy conclusion from Project Blue Book. That's right. A handful of times. And the Air Force is like, you know, that's pretty darn good. I like that conclusion. Let's use that one. And then we'll just sprinkle in some. These pilots were chasing Venus from time to time. Well, later, Project Blue Book and the Air Force official UFO, we all know what it is, right? Suggested that the sighting was related to Operation Big Blast. Yeah, Big Blast. Yeah, that's what it was called, Big Blast. Right, right, right. Which was a strategic air command training mission. And the... presence of the B-. Forty seven aircraft in the area. But the policemen were completely disagreeing with this crazy conclusion, which, by the way, the Air Force and Blue Book couldn't even agree on, even though Blue Book was working right under the Air Force. So there the policemen are writing letters to Blue Book and they're saying this that did not happen. Change that answer because it's not true. And they insisted that what they saw was not a conventional aircraft, emphasizing its close proximity, unusual movements, and the absolute silence. So they expressed this intense level of frustration at the damage to the policemen's credibility. And they requested official acknowledgment that the government's explanation was incorrect. Because during this time frame, it's already a tough situation to be in for a policeman to be investigating a UFO, chasing a UFO, documenting it, right? The Air Force and Blue Book didn't have the policemen's back. They said, nope, what you saw, you can explain it. It's conventional, nothing to see here. And these policemen said, if you don't back me up, I could very easily lose my job. And I know what I saw. It wasn't some aircraft. It wasn't man-made. This truly was a UFO. So then January of. Nineteen sixty six. The Air Force responded to the officer's letter. Stating quote. They were unable to identify. The object observed on September. Third nineteen sixty five. And the final project. Blue book report on the incident. Was labeled as. Unidentified. And included numerous other UFO. Sightings from the same area. And time period. So. It seems like the policemen in that area got a little bit of their credibility back because Blue Book had identified this incident as unidentified, which they did that significantly. There were a lot of cases that they classified. A few things happened at the same time here. All right. So you have Muscarello who, when he ran out into the street, remember he sees a flying saucer come in a huge craft. He describes it as, you know, a hundred, as big as a, a, a barn lighting up these houses. He's pounding on the doors of the homes. Nobody answers. He runs out into the street. He's out of his mind. He flags, stops a car. and tells a couple what's going on, they drive him to the police station. The police said that when he got there, he was freaking out. He was visibly shaken. They knew something had happened. All of this is documented, right? When Bertrand and Muscarello go back, they see the craft rise out of behind the barn, lighting up the whole area. That's not the Air Force doing exercises with B-Forty-seven bombers. This craft rose up. Hunt arrives, and they watch it all together. It's only a hundred feet away, Christina, a hundred feet, a third of a football field, thirty yards. It's a hundred feet away and a hundred feet in the air, and they all watch it together. There's no way. So when the Air Force comes into play, what do they say? Oh, you're imagining things. You were seeing stars in the sky, right? They bring in temperature inversions. By the way, I haven't heard temperature inversion used by anybody that's educated since the nineteen sixties. right it was like this made-up uh excuse uh to ufo sightings and radar blips it was a temperature inversion we've never heard it again and of course project blue book not being able to explain and the air force any of this came back and finally said we don't know what they saw the the book Incident at Exeter, highly recommended, highly recommended. I'm telling you, when I read that book, I freaked out because I really, it was a scary book to read because the way that Fowler writes, number one, but we have Bertrand Hunt and Muscarello all giving these firsthand accounts, all of it the same. And it's just written so well. It's a very, very terrifying experience for, It's a great book, The Incident at Exeter, September third, nineteen sixty five. Christina, it's such a great case. If you're enjoying the show, hit that like button right down below and subscribe. If you haven't already, we still have some time left. And I think the next case we should cover is the Loring Air Force Base incident that took place in nineteen seventy five. Is that what you were thinking, Jimmy? Oh, man. One of my favorite cases. You know why? Why? We've got. Local law enforcement. We have witnesses on the ground. We have radar, we have aircraft and. The CIA. Yeah, man. Yeah, man. Yep, yep, yep, yep, yep. Bring in the CIA. And you can go, everybody, after the show today, just head over to CIA.gov. Don't worry, they won't track you if you click on the site. Yeah, right. And you can read the paperwork on this case. Um, now I will say this as, as we go through this case, it's one of my favorite cases. And I am going to, as I go through this, the original explanation to the case, not the conclusion. We'll get to that. It was helicopters. I almost thought you were going to say hail, and I'm like, that's an awful explanation. But helicopters is just as bad, actually. It's just as bad over in Air Force Base. Like Air Force personnel and the people in the control tower, the people on the ground, the ground crews, the security, the perimeter, right? Don't know what a helicopter is. Well, that was their way of starting the cover up. Okay. All right. So as I describe all of this to you, just keep that in check. When I say helicopter, they say cover up. Okay. You got it. Are you with me? All right. Over a series of nights in nineteen seventy five, Loring Air Force Base in Maine was invaded by mysterious craft originating from. Are you ready? Canada. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. And this was before Wayne Gretzky, by the way. So it was those pesky Canadians, right? Well, not so fast. At the time, the base was home to B- fifty-two bombers and KC- one-thirty-five tankers and was tasked with the nuclear alert mission. The Loring Air Force Base incidents are extremely well documented, both in terms of personal testimonials, Christina, but declassified CIA and National Military Command Center documents. Okay, this is, you can go and jump down this rabbit hole all on your own. It all started on the evening of October, when the security personnel at the base observed what was described officially as an unidentified helicopter. Officially. That appeared near the northern perimeter of the installation. An unidentified Canadian helicopter. Now, shortly after the craft appeared, radar operators in the control tower at Loring observed another unknown aircraft circling between ten and thirteen miles northeast of the base. The next night, which was October twenty eighth, another unknown aircraft appeared over Loring, this time without lights. That's right, Canadians flying their helicopters over a nuclear air force base in the United States without lights. The New York Times reported on the incursions in a nineteen seventy nine article, and it was called the headline read UFO files. The untold story. The New York Times said that despite the fact that the Joint Chiefs of Staff received multiple briefings on the incursions, Subsequent investigations by the Air Force into the sightings at Loring Air Force Base, Maine, where the remarkable series of events began, did not reveal a cause for the sightings. Right. Now, check this out, Christina. I have an eyewitness. I have a name. I witness. I do know his name. John E. Morkovich, who served at Loring from nineteen seventy two to nineteen seventy five. And I'm going to quote for him. He recounted the following quote. The UFO came up on radar out of nowhere and was hovering over East Loring near the weapons storage facility. In the CIA documents, the weapons storage facility is front and center. Okay, you can go and read it for yourself. The aircraft was scrambled to intercept. It was seen visually from the ground and tracked on radar. Then the lieutenant colonel who was there and present said, quote, this damn thing was there one second and gone the next. It vanished. Now, this was also according to eyewitness accounts from the ground. Then radar analysis showed this bogey. This is from the lieutenant colonel. was so far away and at such a high altitude. Let me tell you this. I'm quoting the lieutenant colonel. There is nothing on this planet, all capitalized, the lieutenant colonel's emphasis in the report, by the way, that can do the things this aircraft or damn UFO did, end quote. And they are saying it was a helicopter. Yeah. An unidentified helicopter. Right, right. When someone of this status, this credibility is saying, it's not ours. It's not from planet Earth. So who are you going to believe? A helicopter story? Conclusion? Or... Someone like the person that you just mentioned stating it's not ours. Who's side are you going to take? John E. Morkovich. Okay. Do you have one of the CIA documents? Let me take a look. I might. I thought we had some stuff. Hold on. I can actually pull it up on the Web site. Well, don't look at me while I do this. I'm at the edge of my seat. What else do you have about this case? You actually covered a lot when it comes to this case. And I think I already had this. This is the CIA paperwork, I believe. Well, see, the CIA now knows that I am on their website. I might have it here. No, I don't. I don't. I already backed out of CIA.gov. I did. I'm always paranoid. I'm always paranoid. I go to CIA.gov, and you know that in some room somewhere they're going, okay, church is back on the site. This is not what they're doing. They're watching my mouse on my screen. I'm so paranoid about that. You know what I did one day? And they never contacted me. I filled out a job application. Oh, my goodness. I did. I did. They were like, we need you. I forget what it was. This is probably five or six years ago. And I forget what it was, but I went and I filled out a job application. They never heard from them. I never did. I was checking my email every day, by the way. I wonder if they, I wonder if, I wonder if, I wonder if I just wanted to know, I just wanted to know. And, uh, so anyway, I was, uh, poking around so much on the CIA's website. Um, and I, I, I felt, uh, What's the word? Uncomfortable in doing it because, you know, I mean, they must have reports that come back going, okay, so-and-so, we've had so many hits on this page or so much. They must track that stuff. There's no way that they do not. And I just decided one day to take it one step further. Yeah, why didn't your brother put in a good word for you? Doesn't he work for the CIA? Yeah. No, you made that public information. I am not spilling secrets here because loose lips sink ships. It's not the CIA, but yeah. Yeah, he's... Did I say that on the air? Oh, yeah, on multiple occasions. But what I'm saying is, why doesn't your brother love you? Why didn't he put in a good word for you? Man, all I have to say about that is this, okay? And I don't want to get him in any trouble. I really don't. But... they know that him and I are brothers. Okay. They know this. So yeah. Yeah. And so he tells he's, he's visiting and we're sitting on my back patio and we're going to move on to another case, everybody, but this actually happened. So we're sitting on my back patio and he goes, man, I just, I got to tell you something. I said, what's up? He goes, I'm in my office in Washington and there's somebody comes in who I didn't know and says, drops his file folder in front of me and says, is this your brother? Yeah. And he goes, I opened it up and there you are. There's a picture. And he goes, I closed the folder. And I said, yes. And he goes, that's it. And he walked out. Yeah. Yeah. Now that's a true story. That's a true story. Listen, listen to everybody. That is a true story. True story. Now. Um, and he said it was about that thick. Which he didn't. It's all of the transcripts of all of your shows. Yeah. You know, I'm surprised, you know, but, but he said it was about that thick. And, and, and he goes, man. they're just doing their job. And I said, you know, that's cool. All right. Okay. All right. I would have been more disappointed if nothing happened. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. True story. Anybody listening to this that wants to call BS, listen, I'm just telling you, uh, and I can't get into any more, uh, details. Uh, I've, I've said way too much, but, uh, And I do want him to not get in any trouble. So we'll just leave that at that. But yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. What are we going to cover next? What's up? We just have a few minutes left. So I think we should cover a case that is well known, but maybe a few new people might not be familiar with it. And that is the Allagash abduction in Maine in nineteen seventy six. Jimmy, give us the rundown on this one in a handful of sentences. Right, right. I'll do this as quick as I can. And I've covered this case, too, as well. I did it in a TV show. Nineteen seventy six. Four men. Jack Weiner. Jim Weiner. Twins, by the way. Right. Chuck Rack and Charles Fultz. Say they experienced a terrifying encounter with aliens while camping in Maine in August of nineteen seventy six. Now, this covers a few days. So first night they were out fishing on Bald Eagle Lake. And when they had the first UFO sighting, They said that they left a fire burning on shore at their campsites, so it would be a beacon to guide them back during the pitch black night. While out, this is night number one, they all saw an unexplainable bright light on the water. The light seemed to follow them as they paddled. Each one noticed it. And then when they looked back, the light had disappeared. Now, Christina, they didn't think much of it. until the light returned two nights later. Sitting on their small boat, they saw the light beam down onto them. They paddled back to the campsite but have no memory of doing this. Instead, all they remembered was being back and the light gone. However, when they returned to the campsite, The fire had burned down much faster than they thought it should have given the amount of time that they had spent out on the water. Lots of investigation and research going into this case and each individual talking about not only the fire itself specifically, which was important because they were saying we were throwing logs on the fire that were this big. They were huge. And we got back and it had completely burnt down. We thought we were only out there for a few minutes. We must have been out there like for hours, if not all night long. I'll hand it over to you. Okay, so after they saw this very strange light in the sky, actually this very strange object, it was so close that they had mentioned years later they could have thrown a rock at it and hit it. So as they were on the boat, minding their own business, doing some fishing, having their fire right on the shore, right? They see this strange object in the sky, and the first thing that came to mind was to communicate with it. So they got their flashlight, they're beaming at it, and then this craft beams back. But as soon as that happened, the fire was out near the shore, And they had lost hours of time. Now, men being men, they did not share their encounter with each other. They kept it bottled up for years until all of them were consistently getting these very vivid nightmares. Then they called each other up and they said, hey, I'm getting these really weird dreams. You too, buddy? Yeah. What about you? Same. And it got so severe that they ended up talking about their case, what happened to them. They're chatting about it. And they decide to get some regression hypnosis. And what they experienced was what we're seeing on screen right here. They were getting a physical by these aliens on a craft that night. They were on Eagle Lake years ago. And they're all remembering the exact same thing, or at the very least, very similar things with a few details here and there that are different. But this case... gained such traction because you are dealing with so much. You're dealing with missing time. You're dealing with an alien abduction. You're dealing with people that didn't give a crap about aliens during this time frame. They just wanted to get their art degree, and that was it, minding their own business. And they kept this story bottled up inside of them, deep inside of them for years until they couldn't do it any longer. Now, there is... controversy with this case, some rumors, some gossip, because out of those four people, the two twins, and then you have Charlie Fultz and Chuck Rack, that's where it gets a bit more difficult, because as the rumors go, at the very least, Chuck Rack wanted to make money off of it, off of the case, write books, do movies, things like this. And the other men were like, no, this is our this is our story. This is insane. We can't fabricate it and we don't want to make money off of it. So Chuck does what any supervillain would do. And he says, if I can't have it, nobody can. And he sabotaged the whole thing, stating this isn't true. That isn't true. This isn't true. Don't believe them. None of that actually happened. And again, that's really where the controversy is of like, okay, who do you believe, these three men or this one man, right? But needless to say, it is a well-known case. There's a lot of books and documentaries on this case. And it's one that needs to be talked about when mentioning New England. Yeah, for sure. And the whole, the original accounts of the case, The fire burning them going offshore on the first night, the light that was there. And then they turn around and the light is gone. And then two nights later, they go back out. The lights there beams down onto them. And then suddenly we have missing time and they go back in the fire. It burned out. All right. OK, so that that and from from that. to the nightmares of them contacting each other and this case going public like it did, and then completely unraveling with everybody, uh, accusing the others of, of making stuff up where it, it, we focus on that part of the case and, and not so much, uh, to the front part of it. Uh, the two nights, it was over three days. So it was night number one. nothing on night number two. And then, you know, it was two days later that the abduction happened and the, it, it, it, It unraveled, and now nobody wants to. It's that same situation, Christina, and I know that we have to wrap up the show. It's the same situation where you have a witness on the stand and tells the truth, ninety nine point nine percent of the time. But then it gets caught in something or something is funky and then suddenly everything else is dismissed on the case. And that's what happened here with them. Once they started the infighting and the finger pointing on the case, it just unraveled. And everything that had happened originally with the case has just gone away and it's just become part of history and pop culture. It's very true. And I think that is the best way to end today's show. Jimmy, who do you have on to fade to black today? Uh, tonight, uh, Rick, Dr. Rick Leskowitz. I had four doctors and two PhDs on the show this week. That's a lot of, I'm just going to say this. That's a lot of work. That's a lot of work. It's big brains.
